Description
A Green Jay (Cyanocorax yncas) poses on its perch in Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas.
Unmistakably tropical, the Green Jay enters North America only in southern Texas. There it is common in native woods and mesquite brush. Green Jays live in pairs or social groups at all seasons, communicating with each other with a bizarre variety of different calls.
