Description
After visiting Monument Valley in 1977 and photographing this Ansel Adam's inspired composition on black and white film I returned 32 years later. Searching for this particular spot for hours I finally came across it next to the new Visitor Center parking lot on my way out of the park. The West Mitten, East Mitten and Merrick Butte are lit by the setting sun enhancing their red rock colors against the blue sky in Monument Valley Tribal Park, Arizona.
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is located on the Navajo Nation—one of the largest American Indian tribes. This sandy preserve bathes the region between Arizona and Utah in rich red hues, adding to its reputation of having some of the most dramatic and mesmerizing light.

Gorgeous Jurgen! We are thinking about taking a quick trip to the southwest and can't decide where to go exactly. This is beautiful!
