Description
Beautiful macro photograph of a Prairie Nymph flower (Herbertia lahue) visited by a wasp. This gorgeous wildflower is a member of the iris family and makes a brief springtime appearance (March, April, May) in Texas coastal prairies. It varies on color from blue to lavender.
Each single flower blooms in just one day and they open about 10 a.m. and close before 6 p.m. of the same day.
Palmetto State Park, Gonzales County, Texas.
