These Live Oak Trees known as Virginia Live Oak, Bishop Oak or Lamar Oak surround the Big Tree, an estimated 2000 years old Oak Tree in Lamar Texas.
The "Big Tree" is one of the most famous live oaks in the world after being named "Texas State Champion Virginia Live Oak" (Quercus virginiana) in 1969. The tree retained that title until 2003, when a larger oak was discovered in Brazoria County, Texas. The "Big Tree" is still thought to be one of the largest live oak specimens in the United States.
Photography, to me, involves seeing the light and capturing the moment: the colorful illumination in the sky just before sunrise; bright sunlight dancing on the bubbling current, the glint in the eye of a mockingbird, soft reflected light caressing the face of a child, the dynamic reflection of the setting sun on the beach. As a photographer, I use my camera to share with others my vision of the world. I have been making photographs for as long as I can remember.
