Description
The greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. Sub-adult flamingos are whitish-grey and only attain the pink coloration several years into their adult life. The coloration comes from the carotenoid pigments in the organisms that live in their feeding grounds. These brilliant flamingos, almost fluorescent in color, were photographed in Rio Lagartos, Yucatan, Mexico.

Beautiful creatures and such a wonderful capture Jurgen!! Their colors pop out against the darker blue sea, perfect contrast.

Beautiful! I love flamingos and you were able to get a small group together without having to cut others off so good composition. Great color!
